Business Display Banners: Correct On Target

When Hershey Park, an leisure park in Hershey, Pennsylvania, in the pipeline the celebration of the 100-year wedding, they chose gentle post banners, as part of the advertising mix. The town-wide celebration will add a re-dedication of the park, 100 days of audio, amusement and fireworks and the unveiling of a new appeal, the Boardwalk at Hershey Park. In St. Louis, the advertising agency of Maring | Weissman developed a campaign for the Gate way Arch. In a departure from the usual exercise of multiple rod banners which are all identical, the banners in that campaign spotlight the different actions available inside the Arch and at regional Arch sites such as the Historical Old Courthouse and Riverboats.

“Around seventy pole banners are prominently exhibited in the parking plenty and on the kiss-shaped gentle posts that line Chocolate Avenue, the main thoroughfare through town,” in accordance with Add Rhoads, Printing Buyer, Hershey Amusement and Resorts Company. “We used two types of banners: one style scars the 100-year wedding of the Hershey’s Kiss, and another custom backdrop marks the 100-year anniversary of Hershey Park. That is initially we’ve used rod banners along Chocolate Avenue, and we are rather pleased about the results.”

Says Beth Marti-Maxwell, Manufacturing Supervisor, Maring | Weissman: “We designed various advertising sets showing all of the Arch attractions one can appreciate, including Riverboat tours, the Memorial of Westward Expansion, films, the museum surprise store, cycle rentals, air travels, the Historic Old Courthouse and, needless to say, flights to the the top of Arch.” Banners were mounted near the Historic Old Courthouse, on the Arc grounds and at the RV/bus parking lot nearby the Riverfront. Explains Marti-Maxwell: “When tourists visit, they might be unaware of all of the activities.

Design options for mild pole banners are increasing too. “The previous rod banners had an even more graphic illustration of the attractions,” Marti-Maxwell says. “The newest banners use photographic images, and we also integrated a free-flowing flap at the bottoms of the signals, which gives them action and gives visual interest.” National institutions are one of many: From important urban cities to little community America, municipalities are finding new and impressive methods to make use of pole banners. The little area of Petersburg, Virginia is just a great example.
